Tiina M. Komulainen is Associate Professor in automation at Oslo and Akershus University College in Norway. She earned MSc and DrSc degrees in chemical engineering from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. Dr. Komulainen has background in industrial process modeling and control. She has worked with dynamic process simulation of large scale industrial oil and gas processes at Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies before joining Oslo and Akershus University College.
Dr Komulainen has research interests in engineering education research, educational technologies, operator training simulators, and process safety in high hazard industries.

He then became Sales Director for Continental Europe at AspenTech, leading an international sales team with annual revenue achievement of $15 million, including all Engineering, Manufacturing Execution and Supply Chain software and services.
Phil Jones is the BP European Acetyls Hull Site Simulation Coach responsible for managing the Group’s globally acclaimed Hull Site Operator Training Simulation Suite. This facility houses a library of generic and custom built high fidelity, fully dynamic models.
Phil holds more than 36 years experience within the BP Group spanning BP Oil, Research & Chemicals divisions. Twenty years of which were in various operational roles ranging from field technician, control room technician, assistant Chem. Eng, Shift Supervisor and Shift Superintendent.
He has been involved with Operator Training Simulators for the past 16 years and his remit includes dealing with simulation vendors/engineers to keep the custom models updated (undertaking rigorous model acceptance testing) & fully reflective of the plants. He develops & delivers operator training scenarios & conducts competence assessment (of both technical & human factor attributes) of the control room technicians using the models.

Scott Moffat is a former teacher and lecturer in Psychology at Buckie High School and Moray College. He worked offshore for five years before starting with People Factor Consultants Ltd in 2011 as a Human Factors Specialist where he now mainly observes teams in drilling simulators or electrical power systems simulators. He gained his MSc in Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics from Nottingham University in 2012.

Tony Atkinson is the BP European Acetyls Hull Site Operations Coach responsible for managing and developing the competency and assessment of Hull Sites field technicians and apprentices.
Tony has more than 17 years of experience on the Hull site, starting as an apprentice and holding a number of roles within operations including Field Technician, Control Room Operator, Shift Supervisor, Control of Work Co-ordinator and more recently as Operations Coach.
Over the last three years he has been working closely with the operating teams to develop a competency assessment framework as assessment model for the field technician, and simultaneously has been working with Phil Jones (Hull Site Simulation Coach) to develop an immersive Operator Training Simulator for the field technicians to build a tool that can provide an opportunity to train and assess individuals and entire shift teams in a safe, immersive environment.
James has been involved with 3D simulation for over a decade now and more recently has been the technical lead on a number of cutting edge immersive simulation and training environments.
